Meet Dr. Bianca Evans

Biography

Bianca D. Evans, Ph.D., M.B.A., an Alabama native and first-generation college graduate, is committed to increasing the access, retention, and success of students that have been historically underrepresented or marginalized in higher education. Dr. Evans has spent nearly 20 years focusing on college access and success for undergraduate and graduate students. She is currently an Associate Dean at the University of Florida, Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT 200), Social Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F), and Educational Consultant. Prior positions include Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion in the University Graduate School at Indiana University, Director of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs in the College of Sciences and Mathematics at Auburn University, and Student Affairs Specialist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Additionally, she taught courses in Anatomy and Physiology at Ivy Tech Community College and Calhoun Community College.

Her research interests include access, persistence, and retention of first-generation and diverse populations in higher education, determinants and impacts of summer research programs on STEM student success, and program evaluation and assessment in higher education. She has presented over 500+ recruitment and retention sessions for students, staff, and faculty locally and nationally and helped many students get admitted to and persist to graduation in undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a participant in Leadership Gainesville Class 49.


​Dr. Evans is the Founder and Executive Director of Education is my Destiny. After working in higher education for a number of years, she saw the need to educate more students who are African American, first-generation, or underrepresented in higher education on the process from high school to college and college to graduate or professional school. Her goal is Promoting Equity for All Students: Empowering Every Voice, Embracing Every Journey. She attends numerous professional conferences throughout the year and spends a significant amount of time touring college campuses, meeting with admissions officers, and networking with other professionals in the field. Dr. Evans is passionate about working with students and families to help them achieve their greatest potential. As a college consultant, she uses her educational background and work experiences to connect with students and assist them as they embark on the next step of their educational journeys. She employs a student-centered approach to education about colleges and admissions, to inspire students to dream and work for their goals, and to empower them to find the right college fit or graduate program.
